The property is placed generating a set with other existing buildings, annexes and terraces in a neutral zone under geobiological study. The design combines bioclimatic, compactness, minimally processed natural materials ((wood, straw bales, clay, lime, stone) and systems for efficient energy production (thermal stove pellets, pump air-water heat solar-thermal support) resulting in a building energy-efficient.
The construction system is based on a structure of laminated timber (KLH) for walls and floors and the placement of straw bales lining around the outside as a thermal insulation (45 cm). Wood is left partially viewed and the outside is finished with a clay and lime plaster. Cover and suspended floor plates are isolated with natural cork agglomerate (16 cm). The terraces and garage are built with local sandstone.
The combination of thick thermal insulation of straw bales with considerable inertia of the KLH with the capacity to regulate moisture throughout the system ensures a comfortable, healthy and free of toxics indoor environment.
In the south facade a wooden pergola for sun protection of interior and the exterior terrace that connects the ground floor. The structure of the pergola serves as a support of the wooden platform covering the entire south terrace. The pergola it will cover with a vine or a removable canopy to allow the sun light in winter and provide shade in summer. The wood structure (Larch) has been selected for its natural durability and its origin of Spanish forests. The stage is heat-treated pine that improves durability thanks to a high temperature treatment. All finishes are based on natural oils that protect and nourish the wood.
